Dodgers-Giants
Baseball's Greatest Rivalry
Other Rivalries
Red Sox vs. Yankees
The Red Sox-Yankees rivalry is often cited (mostly by East Coast media outlets) as the best rivalry baseball has to offer. There have been many great moments in this series and passions are certainly high on both sides. That said, looking at the numbers it just doesn't compare to what the Dodgers-Giants series has done on the field. All information was gathered at Baseball-Reference.com and Retrosheet.org.  Last updated November 13, 2008.

UCLA vs. USC
UCLA and USC have the top two athletic programs in the country. They both rank among the elite in virtually every collegiate sport. UCLA leads the nation with 103 NCAA Team Championships and 124 total National Championships. USC is third nationally with 86 and 108, respectively. USC also boasts the most NCAA Men's Championships with 73.

In addition to the titles, USC has produced more MLB players than any other school, and has the second most in the NFL while UCLA has produced the most NBA players. USC has produced the most Olympic medalists, 257, and UCLA is second with 236.  Their 493 combined Olympic medals (all summer) would rank 7th on the country list and account for more than one-fifth of all US medals.

The head-to-head info was taken primarily from the information departments from both schools (compiled by the LA Times) and from Lonnie White's book, "UCLA vs. USC: 75 Years of the Greatest Rivalry in Sports." Other information was taken from the UCLA and USC official athletic sites.
